The Primary Division introduces students to the art of movement by nurturing creativity, self expression and musicality. Classes incorporate body awareness, motor skills and the essentials to graduating to the Preparatory Division. All students in the Primary Division are placed according to their appropriate age as of August 1st.

Ballet Indiana’s Nutcracker and a Spring Ballet
ages 3-4
An introduction to the art of dance in a nurturing environment! This class assists in identifying basic forms of movement through imaginative games, music and patterns using facilitative props. Students practice fluid, graceful movements to develop spatial and pattern awareness, along with self control and following directions.
- Beginning Age (as of August 1st): 3
- Class Options: 2 days a week, 45 minute Class
- Semester Payment Available in 2 options
- A) Full Payment at registration.
- B) 4 Monthly Installments.
Dress Code:
All must wear a cover-up and street shoes upon entering and exiting the school’s doors. Ballet slippers are only to be worn in the Studios.
Girls:
- SBI Black Leotard (no Undergarments)
- Pink Ballet Tights
- Pink Ballet Slippers.
- Hair must be pulled neatly into a bun for class and rehearsals. All Bangs and/or Wispies should be pinned & secured away from face.
Boys:
- White SBI Shirt
- Black or White Shorts or Leggings,
- Black or White Ballet Slippers, and Socks.
PreBallet
ages 5&6
Pre-Ballet Students begin to learn basic ballet fundamentals and build a strong foundation. Concepts, such as posture, coordination, musicality, spatial awareness, class etiquette and classical ballet terminology are addressed at this level.
Progressing Ballet Technique is an innovative program developed by Marie Walton-Mahon for students to understand the depth of training muscle memory in achieving their personal best in classical ballet. PreBallet dancers are introduced to this amazing conditioning program towards the end of class each week.
- Beginning Age (as of August 1st): 5.
- Class Options: 1 or 2 days a week, 1 hr. Class.
- Semester Payment Available in 2 options
- A) Full Payment at registration.
